Well, it looks like Akshay Kumar is not able to get a monopoly on national holiday releases these days. His PadMan was supposed to come out on January 26, but it was clashing with his former good friend Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary. It's another thing that both the movies didn't manage to release on the day they want to,  as Padmaavat spoiler their gregarious plans and had a solo release during the Republic Day weekend.

Now Akshay Kumar's next release, the interesting looking Gold, is ready to release on August 15, taking advantage of the Independence Day weekend. But it looks like it won't have a solo release then as well. If the below tweet is to be believed, Kangana Ranaut's ambitious Manikarnika will also be coming out on the same date. Industry watcher Ramesh Bala has this nugget to share about Manikarnika's new release plans.

Now Manikarnika was earlier scheduled to release in April, but the injury to the lead actress delayed the shooting scheduled and the makers were toying to release it on August 3.  Now it looks like they want to enjoy the advantage of releasing on a public holiday, even if it means clashing with another period movie, starring Akshay Kumar. Manikarnika is the biopic of legendary Rajput queen Rani Laxmibai, and is directed by Krish.

Meanwhile, Gold, helmed by Reema Kagti and produced by Excel Entertainment, narrates the tale behind India's first gold medal win in the Olympics for hockey as a free country. Apart from Kumar, the movie also stars Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Mouni Roy (in her Bollywood debut).
