Monalisa Bhosle, the young woman who rose to internet fame as the Maha Kumbh Viral Girl, has issued a public statement accusing film director Sanoj Mishra of sexual assault and persistent harassment. In a recent video addressed to her followers, Bhosle tearfully shared her ordeal, stating, "He used to touch me in inappropriate places and made my life a living hell. I kept quiet for a long time because I didn’t want to ruin my first film opportunity, but I cannot stay silent anymore." Newlyweds Monalisa Bhosle and Farman Khan Thank Kerala Government for Supporting Their Interfaith Marriage, Say ‘All Religions Are Same’.

Monalisa Bhosle Alleged Misconduct by Sanoj Mishra

The allegations centre on Mishra's behaviour during the pre-production and filming stages of their planned collaboration. According to Bhosle, the director leveraged his position of authority to subject her to unwanted physical advances and mental torture. She claimed that when she initially attempted to report the behaviour to those close to her, she was advised to "compromise" for the sake of her budding career in the film industry.

Bhosle further alleged that the harassment extended beyond physical misconduct. She suggested that Mishra’s recent public comments regarding her personal life, specifically his labelling of her marriage as "Love Jihad", were a retaliatory tactic intended to defame her after she resisted his advances.

A History of Legal Controversies

This is not the first time Director Sanoj Mishra has faced serious legal scrutiny. In late March 2024, Mishra was arrested by the Delhi Police following a separate rape complaint filed by another aspiring actress. In that instance, the complainant alleged that Mishra had promised her film opportunities in exchange for sexual favours.

While Mishra was later granted some legal relief in that specific case after the complainant reportedly withdrew her charges, claiming she had been "manipulated" by rival producers, the arrest created a significant stir in the industry. The recurring nature of such allegations has brought renewed focus to the safety of newcomers in the film world.

Retaliation and Defamation Claims

The relationship between the director and the viral sensation has deteriorated into a complex legal battle. Earlier this year, Mishra filed an FIR against several individuals, including a YouTube channel owner, accusing them of conspiring to defame him and stall his project, The Diary of Manipur, which was set to star Bhosle. Maha Kumbh Viral Girl Monalisa Bhosle and Husband Farman Khan Appeal for Help Amid ‘Love Jihad’ Row (Watch Video).

Mishra has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, maintaining that he is the victim of a targeted smear campaign orchestrated by industry rivals who wish to sabotage his films. He has characterised Bhosle’s recent marriage and subsequent allegations as part of a broader conspiracy against him.
