His actual name is Venkatesh Prabhu.

Dhanush, who is one of the most loved actors in the film industry and enjoys a massive fan base, made his acting debut in 2002 with the coming of age drama, Thulluvadho Ilamai, helmed by his father Kasthuri Raja. In May this year, Dhanush completed 17 years in Tamil film industry. So, the Maari actor had shared a heartfelt note, which read, "It feels like yesterday that you opened your hearts to the clueless young boy who didn't even know if he had it in him to become an actor, let alone a star. Looking back at this roller coaster of a career, I'm filled with the deepest sense of gratitude for your faith in me. (sic)"

Thanking his fans for their unrelenting support, the Maari star further added, "I am not a perfect person, but your unconditional faith drives me to push myself harder and be the best possible version of myself (sic)."

On the professional front, Dhanush has teamed up with director Vetri Maaran for Asuran, marking their fourth-time collaboration, after working in films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, and the recent gangster film, Vada Chennai. In the film, the actor will be seen playing a dual role— both as dad and son. Dhanush is also playing the lead role in Durai Senthilkumar's upcoming venture.
