There were three big Tamil films slated to release this Diwali – Thalapathy Vijay starrer Bigil, Kaithi featuring Kaithi and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Sanga Thamizhan. These three films were going to clash at the box office, however, one of the films have been postponed. Vijay Sethupathi’s Sanga Thamizhan will not be releasing during the festival of lights but in November 2019.
As per a report in Sify, the makers of Sanga Thamizhan decided to back out from of Diwali 2019 race is because Bigil and Kaithi, both have signed the dotted lines with big distributors. And since Vijay Sethupathi’s recently released film Sindhubaadh tanked at the box office, the makers do not want to incur any losses again. Also, after seeing the response for Thalapathy Vijay and Karthi’s respective trailers, makers decided to push Vijay Sethupathi starrer. Chennai industry expert Ramesh Bala tweeted, “#SangaThamizhan release is postponed from #Diwali2019 release.. The movie might release on Nov 8th or 15th..”
