Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Coolie, starring Rajinikanth. The popular Tamil filmmaker is best known for the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes Kaithi (2019), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023). While fans are eagerly waiting for him to announce Leo 2, a sequel to the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, Lokesh has other plans outside the LCU. Lokesh Kanagaraj Wishes To Reunite With Thalapathy Vijay for ‘Master 2’

In an interview with film critic Sudhir Srinivasan on his YouTube channel, Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed his desire to collaborate with Thalapathy Vijay again, but not for Leo 2. Instead, he wishes to make Master 2. When asked if the Tamil superstar is still a part of the LCU, considering he has announced his last film and plans to enter politics full-time, the filmmaker responded, "Only time can tell. Secondly, Vijay anna has to decide. We can bring him in for a cameo, but I want to do Master with him. Everyone is waiting for Leo 2, but I want to do Master 2 with him."

He went on to explain, "There was a part of the story which remains untold. There was no conclusion to it. I just want to do that film. I personally like the vibe of JD (Vijay's character in Master) very much. Yes, Leo is a strong character in LCU and people love it but if you ask me, personally, I have proper idea for Master 2 and he (Vijay) also knows it. But there's no time for all this, he also has some other things to achieve."

Talking about his plans for the LCU, Lokesh said, "I will be doing Kaithi 2. Then I will be doing a film with Kamal sir also, Vikram 2 and finally it has to be Leo 2. Rolex will be a standalone film. Suriya sir and I have discussed it." Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth's Coolie is scheduled to hit the big screens on May 6, 2025. The movie also features Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in key roles. Pooja Hegde will also appear in a song, and there's a cameo by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in the film.
