Veteran actor and director Rajasekar, who is known for his works primarily in Telugu cinema and few Tamil films, passed away today. The actor, who had acted in blockbuster serials like Saravanan Meenatchi and Mappillai, was 61 years old. Reportedly, Rajasekar breathed his last at his home, owing to some illness. However, not many details are revealed about the actor's death. Soon after the news of Rajasekar's death surfaced online, many took to the micro-blogging site to pay tribute to the veteran director.
Kollywood star R Sarath Kumar wrote on Twitter, "The duo Robert-Rajasekar came with a bang and later #Rajasekar used his experience in the industry & continued his passion for cinema. His demise leaves a vaccum among his good friends & in the industry. May his soul rest in peace.#RIPRajasekar"

Television actor Mohan Raman too took to Twitter to pay tribute. He wrote, "RIP - Rajasekar.... Originally film Director part of the duo Robert - Rajasekar and later Actor. May your Athma attain Sadhgathi."

On the career front, Rajasekar had made his Telugu film debut in 1985 with Vande Mataram, has acted in several films such as Pratighatana, Repati Pourulu, Station Master, Shrutilayalu, Kashmora, Aradhana, Talambralu, Aruna Kiranam, Mamatala Kovela and Akka Mogudu. In a career spanning more than thirty years, the actor, who has acted in over eighty films in various roles, gave blockbuster films like Talambralu, Shrutilayalu, Aahuti, Ankusham, Magaadu, Allari Priyudu, Anna, Omkaram, Suryudu, Sivayya, Manasunna Maaraju, Maa Annayya, Simharasi, Evadaithe Nakenti and Gorintaku, among many others.
