Anwar Ibrahim’s Bollywood Connection
Anwar has previously displayed his fondness for Bollywood during engagements with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During Modi’s visit to Malaysia, Anwar shared an official video montage of the visit set to ‘Bole Chudiyan’, the popular song from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
His latest performance of ‘Khwab Ho Tum Ya Koi Haqeeqat’ added another Bollywood reference to his diplomatic interactions with India. The song, originally sung by Kishore Kumar, is among the well-known numbers from the 1965 Hindi film Teen Deviyan. During his current India visit, Anwar also praised the country for its civilisation, culture and history. Anwar became Malaysia’s prime minister in 2022, making his current trip his first official visit to India since taking office.
