Mammootty's Unda was supposed to release on June 5, taking advantage of the Eid holiday. For some reason, the movie's release date is now pushed to June 14, with the trailer coming out on June 5. Unda has Mammootty plays a Kerala RPF cop who finds himself and his team facing the threat of the Maoists in Chhattisgarh. The trailer shows how Mammootty's team is sent to Chhattisgarh to tackle the Maoist menace there during election duty. There is a small catch here, though. They are only given lathis and a few ammunition to handle a real attack, much to the surprise of the CRPF officers there.

Even the Kerala team wonders how they could take on the Maoists when they are scrimmaging for bullets (the 'Unda'), making for a satirical view of how the law personnel in our country works in dangerous, pitiful conditions. Mammootty, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jayasurya, Ann Augustine, and Other Celebs Grace Engagement of Director Lal Jose’s Daughter Irene! Mammootty, meanwhile, is shown lending his commanding presence to the film, showing his helplessness when the situation demands, and leadership in others. Unda also stars Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Arjun Ashokan, Dileesh Pothan, Kalabhavan Shajohn and director Ranjith.
