‘Band Karo, Dafa Ho Jao’: Ruckus at Abhijeet Dipke, Neha Bora’s Delhi Press Conference (Video)
A ruckus broke out during a press conference in Delhi addressed by All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora, Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, actor Prakash Raj and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, after some people were heard shouting slogans asking the speakers to stop and leave the venue.
A press conference in Delhi featuring Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, AISA president Neha Bora, actor Prakash Raj and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan was disrupted on Thursday, October 15, after some people were heard shouting slogans demanding that the speakers stop and leave the venue. Dipke urged those present to ignore the hecklers as the interruption unfolded.
A video of the incident captures people shouting, “Band Karo, Dafa Ho Jao, Dafa Ho Jao Yahan Se.” The slogans interrupted the gathering, which was organised against the backdrop of the recent arrests of CJP members Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, allegations of police brutality and demands for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. ‘Why Is Gyanesh Kumar So Important to PM Modi?’ CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Questions Delhi Crackdown (Video).
Why Was the Press Conference Held?
The press conference came amid a controversy over the detention of CJP activists following their protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The party has been demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, a process that has triggered political criticism and protests.

The controversy escalated after Jantar Mantar was de-notified as a designated protest site. On October 13, Delhi Police arrested CJP members Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and Ajinkya Shinde after a group of party members allegedly entered the restricted protest area and raised slogans. Police cited alleged trespass and obstruction of public servants, while the party challenged the action.
Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das Sent to Judicial Custody
On October 14, a Special Executive Magistrate remanded Ranka and Das to five days of judicial custody. Ajinkya Shinde was released on a personal bond. The arrests intensified criticism from CJP and opposition figures, with concerns raised over the handling of protesters and their access to legal assistance.
CJP has alleged police excesses in the handling of its members, while the police have cited violations of restrictions at Jantar Mantar. The press conference brought these concerns, along with the demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, into focus. The identities of the people who interrupted Thursday’s press conference and their reasons for shouting slogans were not immediately clear.
