Addressing speculation that had circulated since early production, director H Vinoth confirmed that Jana Nayagan is built on the core framework of Bhagavanth Kesari, though heavily altered for the Tamil star.
Vinoth clarified that approximately 50 per cent of the original story was retained. To be precise, the director noted that while around 60 per cent of the first half mirrors the Telugu original, only about 20 percent of the second half was used.
