India’s OG popular talk show host, Shekhar Suman, is BACK! LatestLY has exclusively learnt that Shekhar Suman will soon return with a new talk show, titled Shekhar Tonite. Before the stand-up acts of the Kapil Sharmas and the Samay Rainas of the world, it was Shekhar Suman who earned unprecedented popularity as a talk show host in India. The suave actor did not earn as much fame as a Bollywood and television actor as he did as a “tonight” host of the Jay Leno-styled Movers & Shakers. The talk show achieved peak popularity from 1997 to 2001 in its first season on Sony Entertainment Television. Shekhar Suman’s second stint with Movers & Shakers was in 2012, telecast on Sony SAB. Both seasons had a similar format to American late-night talk shows, comprising stand-up acts based on current affairs, followed by celebrity interviews, and musical acts, complete with making fun of the band members. The trailer of Shekhar Tonite will be unveiled in the evening on May 11, 2026. Shekhar Suman’s son Adhyayan Suman, actor-singer and producer, teased his father’s new show on Instagram with his silhouette picture, saying, "THE FINAL RETURN". Going with the tagline, “The Voice is Back”, the team of Shekhar Tonite will reveal a special hoarding in Chitrakoot Grounds at Andheri West in Mumbai before the trailer launch. The details of what the show is about will be disclosed at the main event. Going by the earlier comments by Shekhar Suman, it is likely that Shekhar Tonite will air on an over-the-top or OTT platform.

The veteran actor had earlier confirmed to News18 in 2024 that he is working on the return of the iconic Movers & Shakers. In December 2025, Shekhar Suman had commented on an old reel of Movers & Shakers posted by a page on Instagram in collaboration with him, saying, “Thank you for this love ! As we speak there is a big announcement on the way! ❤️” With this remark, a big hint had been given to his fans.

It will be interesting to see who appears in the guest list of Shekhar Suman’s new talk show. He managed to get the who’s who on Movers & Shakers before The Kapil Sharma Show or Comedy Nights With Kapil existed. As per News18, while speaking to Instant Bollywood in March 2025, Shekhar Suman had said that he wouldn’t mind having Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut as a guest on his new show. It may be recalled that Shekhar had major beef with Kangana after his son’s break-up with her. The senior Suman had accused the actress of performing black magic. Now, he is of the opinion that there are no permanent enemies or friends in Bollywood. The Utsav actor had also softened his stance on Kangana since she is now a colleague in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shekhar Suman was seen in Heeramandi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series on Netflix in 2024. The 63-year-old actor opened his own film academy in Mumbai in April 2026, called the SSFA (Shekhar Suman Film Academy).
It was about time a show like Shekhar Tonite or a version of Movers & Shakers was launched, one with intelligent political sarcasm and without lewd jokes and misogynist comments, unlike what is the trend in the current times.
