The released content includes short gameplay clips showing co-protagonist Jason Duval playing basketball, driving through Vice City at night, fighting security and police, using a taser, and engaging in melee combat. An accompanying image presents what appears to be the complete Leonida map, divided into five counties. Some of the footage is believed to originate from a 2023 or 2024 development build.
Cyberleek’s Stated Reasons for the Leaks
Cyberleek frames the releases as a protest against digital distribution practices. The group’s manifesto criticises digital preorders sold before independent reviews, the decision to release GTA 6 without a physical disc, and the locking of single-player content already present in the base game files. It also demands offline fallback options for single-player titles.
Cyberleek has said it will not stop releasing material until Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive issue a public apology and make a concrete commitment to change. Further videos have already appeared, with additional leaks threatened.
Rockstar’s Response
Rockstar has focused on removing the videos through copyright claims. The speed of these takedowns has been widely interpreted as evidence that the footage is genuine.
