As anticipation builds for the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI, cybercriminals are capitalising on fan excitement by launching sophisticated fraudulent schemes. With the official game scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November 2026, scammers are flooding the internet with deceptive websites promising unauthorised early access to the title.

These malicious websites are designed to appear highly convincing, often utilising neon aesthetics reminiscent of the Vice City setting, luxury car imagery, and artificial intelligence-generated artwork. As per a report by Gizmochina, security researchers at Malwarebytes have identified a wave of these portals that offer "VIP Digital Access" or "Exclusive Early Access Preview" packages to entice eager players. GTA 6 Standard Edition Price and GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Price Announced.

The schemes typically require victims to pay hundreds of dollars in cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, USDT, or Ether. Once the payment is processed, the websites display fraudulent transaction confirmations and download prompts, but no legitimate software is ever provided. Rockstar Games has not authorised any early access, beta programmes, or special unlocks outside of its official distribution channels.

Staying Safe From GTA 6 Fraud

This trend of exploitation is not unique to the current launch, as similar scams involving fake beta keys and malware-ridden "cracked" versions have appeared during previous GTA releases. Security experts emphasise that official pre-orders, which are set to commence on 25 June 2026, will only be handled through verified retailers and the official Rockstar platform. Rockstar Games Confirms GTA 6 Ultimate Edition and Early Bonuses; Pre-Orders Begin on June 25.

To avoid falling victim to these scams, users are advised to verify that they are browsing legitimate URLs and to steer clear of any third-party websites demanding cryptocurrency payments. As the launch date approaches, players should rely exclusively on official instructions from Rockstar Games and exercise patience to ensure their financial and digital security remains intact.
