KRAFTON, the South Korean gaming company behind the popular Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), plans to invest an additional USD 250 million in India over the next three to four years. The company said the fresh investment will support gaming, homegrown intellectual property and startups, while expanding its focus into emerging areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and deep technology.

The announcement came after KRAFTON Chairman Byung Gyu Chang met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on September 4, 2026. The meeting focused on KRAFTON's long-term commitment to India's gaming, technology and digital entertainment ecosystem, as well as opportunities to strengthen India-South Korea cooperation in gaming, innovation and emerging technologies. Garena Free Fire MAX Redeem Codes Today, September 3, 2026 Revealed; Know How To Redeem Codes, Grab Free Rewards Like Diamond, Skins, Weapon and More.

KRAFTON's Growing Investment in India

KRAFTON said it has invested more than USD 250 million in India since 2021 and plans to invest a further USD 250 million over the next three to four years. This would take its total planned investment in the country to approximately USD 500 million. The company said the investment reflects its confidence in India's talent, innovation and technology ecosystem.

The new commitment is separate from a USD 670 million India-focused venture growth fund that KRAFTON established with South Korean internet company NAVER and investor Mirae Asset. The fund was announced in December 2025 and is intended to support growth-stage startups in India's digital ecosystem.

KRAFTON Expands Beyond Gaming

While gaming remains central to KRAFTON's India strategy, the company plans to broaden its investment focus to areas including AI, robotics and deep technology. Its investments will also support Indian gaming startups and the development of homegrown intellectual property, with the company seeking to help local creators and developers build products and experiences for global audiences.

KRAFTON has already backed a range of Indian startups across gaming, interactive entertainment, esports and technology. Its portfolio includes companies such as Nodwin Gaming, Loco, Pratilipi, Kuku FM and One Impression. The company has invested in around 18 Indian companies, according to TechCrunch.

KRAFTON has also strengthened its gaming presence through the acquisition of Pune-based Nautilus Mobile, the studio behind the Real Cricket franchise. The company said the acquisition supports its efforts to nurture Indian gaming talent and develop locally created intellectual property.

KIGI Academy and Talent Development

Talent development is another part of KRAFTON's India strategy. The company recently launched KIGI Academy, an industry-academia initiative focused on building skills in game development and digital creation. The programme was launched in partnership with IIT Madras and is designed to provide students with training and industry exposure.

KRAFTON said its broader India strategy aligns with the government's "Create in India, Create for India, Create for the World" vision. The company aims to work with Indian creators, developers and entrepreneurs to develop globally relevant games, technologies and digital experiences. GTA 6 Prologue and Lucia Caminos Gameplay Leaked Online by Cyberleek.
