Satna, July 10: In another case of sexual assault against minors in Madhya Pradesh, a four-year-old girl in Satna was allegedly raped on Sunday. The police have arrested the accused. The victim has been admitted to a hospital, where her condition is reported to be critical.

Rajesh Hingankar, SP Satna, said, “A 28-year-old man has been arrested. The victim’s condition is fine. Case registered under section 376 of IPC and POCSO Act.” The victim has been identified as Mahendra Singh Gaud. The incident took place in nearby Panna village.

Uchehara police station in-charge Rajesh Sharma said, “Gaud came to the house of the girl last night. As he is known to the family, the girl's father went out for some work. In the meantime, Gaud took the girl with him to nearby Panna village and raped her. He left her there in the injured condition and went back to his home in Parasmania village.”

The victim's father did not find his daughter after he came home. According to the officer, he then gathered other villages some villagers and went to the residence of Gaud and confronted him over the whereabouts of his daughter. Gaud then took them to the spot where he had left the girl. Madhya Pradesh Congress president and former Union minister Kamal Nath has strongly condemned the incident.

The incident comes just after an eight-year-old girl was gang-raped in Mandsaur. The girl was abducted from her school in Hafiz Colony after being lured by the two accused by offering her sweets. The girl was found near Lakshman Darwaza.  Both the accused in the case have been arrested.

Authorities of the jail in which the two accused are lodged are concerned about their safety as there is anger among the inmates against them. RM Shukla, CSP, Mandsaur said, “Police remand of Mandsaur rape accused Irfan extended by three days. DM and SP conducted regular inspection of the jail and held a discussion on the issue of safety of rape accused as there is anger among jail inmates against the two accused.”
