Raebareli, May 6: Congress MLA from Raebareli, Aditi Singh on Sunday dismissed the rumours of her marriage with party president Rahul Gandhi, circulating on social media over the past week.

Aditi said such rumours are untrue and "mischievous", adding that her relation with Rahul Gandhi is that of a sibling. "I am upset with the kind of rumours on social media about my marriage with Rahul Gandhi ji. He is my 'rakhi brother'. I appeal the rumour mongers to refrain from such defamatory things," the 29-year-old said while speaking to a news channel.

Aditi also took to Twitter to issue a clarification:

Congress claims the messages are a handwork of the Bharatiya Janata Party's IT Cell, which aims to tarnish the image of Rahul Gandhi ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections.

About Aditi Singh

Aditi entered the poll fray for the first time in 2017, contesting the Raebareli seat in the assembly elections. The constituency was won by her with a margin of over 90,000 votes.

A post-graduate from Duke University, USA, Aditi returned to her home-state in a bid to continue the political legacy of her father, Akhilesh Singh, a five-time MLA from Raebareli. She is also considered close to Rahul Gandhi's younger sister Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra.
