Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 9.0 update, based on Android 17, for the Galaxy A56 smartphone in South Korea. The update brings new Quick Panel customisation options, improvements to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes, enhanced accessibility features and a location privacy indicator. The rollout comes more than a month after Samsung opened the One UI 9.0 beta programme for the device.
The update is currently available in South Korea, with a wider international rollout expected in the coming days. However, Samsung has not announced an official release schedule for India or other markets.
Samsung Galaxy A56 Android 17 Update Details
According to a report by Moneycontrol, citing SamMobile, the stable One UI 9.0 update for the Galaxy A56 carries firmware version A566SKSUADZJ1. Samsung has not disclosed the download size of the update package.
The rollout follows the release of One UI 9.0 for several other Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy A27, Galaxy A37, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. The latest update extends Samsung's Android 17 rollout to additional devices in its mid-range smartphone portfolio.
As the update is being distributed in phases, availability may vary among users. Galaxy A56 owners in India may have to wait until Samsung expands the rollout to the country.
Samsung One UI 9.0 Features
One UI 9.0 introduces several interface changes and software improvements over One UI 8.5. One of the key additions is greater customisation of the Quick Panel, allowing users to adjust the layout to suit their preferences.
The update also brings improvements to Samsung DeX, the company's desktop-style interface for compatible Galaxy devices. Samsung Notes has received enhancements, while accessibility features have also been upgraded.
Another addition is a location privacy indicator that alerts users when an application accesses their device's location. The feature is intended to make location access more visible to users and help them monitor how applications use location permissions.
The availability of individual features may vary depending on the device and software configuration.
How To Download Android 17 on Samsung Galaxy A56
Galaxy A56 users can manually check whether the stable One UI 9.0 update is available for their device by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app on the smartphone.
- Select Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install or Check for Updates, depending on the software version.
- If the update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
Users should back up important data before installing a major software update and ensure that their phones have sufficient battery charge and available storage space.
When Will Samsung Galaxy A56 Get One UI 9.0 in India?
Samsung has not confirmed an India release date for the Galaxy A56's stable Android 17 update. The current rollout is limited to South Korea, and the timing of its expansion to other markets remains unconfirmed.
Users in India can periodically check the Software Update section in their phone's settings for availability. Until Samsung issues an official announcement, the expected timing of the wider rollout should be treated as tentative.
The release marks another step in Samsung's distribution of Android 17-based One UI 9.0 to compatible Galaxy smartphones, bringing newer software features to its mid-range devices alongside its flagship models.
