New Delhi, April 27: Resident doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) declared an indefinite strike after their faculty Dr Atul Kumar physically assaulted one of their colleagues. According to a report on ANI, the strike will continue till the doctor in question is removed from his post. Only ICU and Emergency services will be operational, while the strike is on.

The Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) has also urged that Kumar should not be allowed to take in thesis candidates and conduct any verbal or written examination. A written apology for his bad conduct has also been demanded.

As per an NDTV report, in a letter to AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria, the RDA alleged that Kumar had slapped the doctor, in front of the attendees, nursing staff and colleagues and that the resident doctor was under depression and had gone home. The letter states about the doctor's misbehaviour towards the female doctors and that there is an atmosphere of fear it has affected the student-teacher relationship.
