Rajkot (Gujarat) [India], Mar 29: An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter scale hit Rajkot's Hanjiyasar village on Thursday morning. As per the meteorological department, the earthquake occurred at around 04:03 am in the morning. As of now no loss of life or property has been reported.

Three days back, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off eastern Indonesia in the early hours, triggering a brief tsunami alert that was swiftly lifted, according to seismic monitoring organisations. The quake struck deep at some 171 kilometres below the surface of the earth in the Banda Sea, as per the US Geological Survey.

Towards the end of January this year, earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR region, the quake, that was also felt in neighbouring India and Pakistan, struck 270 km (167 miles) northeast of Kabul in the Hindu Kush mountains, at a deep 180 km. In the same month, a low-intensity earthquake struck Assam's Kokrajhar district . The magnitude of the tremors was reported to be 5.2 on the richter scale. No casualties or injuries were reported.
