In one of its biggest recruitment, Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced massive job openings for lakhs of aspirants across the country. The job notification has come amid the slowing economy that has led companies to weigh manpower reduction. According to a media report, the state-run miner and its subsidiaries has lined up 9,000 job vacancies and will hire eligible candidates through recruitment exam, the notification of which will be released soon. Of the total vacancies, 4,000 will be of executives in the parent company, while its eight subsidiaries will recruit the remaining technical employees. IBPS Clerk 2019 Job Notification Released: Apply for 12,075 Vacancies Online From September 17, Check Important Exam Schedule Here.

Confirmed by the Economic Times, this recruitment is said to be the biggest drive in a decade. A senior CIL executive was quoted in the same report, “Coal India is recruiting so many executives in a single year in almost a decade in an effort to fill up all the vacancies that have been pending for several years. Last year, we recruited only about 1,200 people.” The executive further added, “Of the 4,000 executives Coal India plans to recruit, 900 would be through advertisements and interview-based in the junior category, another 400 would be recruited from campuses and some 100 would be miscellaneous like medical officers, etc. We have already recruited 400 executives and most of whom are doctors. Another 75 have been recruited and would be joining soon. The company will recruit around 2,200 additional executives through competitive examinations.”

Over the last three years, Coal India has seen more than 12,000 employees retiring, which has led to a number of positions falling vacant. Hence, the company needs to conduct hiring at a large-scale to maintain an adequate workforce. The ET report further added that 5,000 workers and technical hands would be recruited by CIL subsidiaries. About 2,300 will be hired as part of the company’s policy to offer jobs to the families whose land was taken up for setting up projects. Again, around 2,350 eligible candidates will be hired as a part of the company’s policy to offer a job to a family member of a staff who died before retirement. About 400 would be hired to non-technical posts.
