The Delhi University conducted the entrance exams on June 18 for law course and the results for the same were declared on July 11. But the students were unhappy with the scores. They claim to get very less marks than acceptable. These candidates requested the university to provide them with the response sheets of their answer scripts. However, only 5 of them managed to get after much delay. In a major disappointment, about 40 DU aspirants approached the Delhi High Court to resolve the matter. Moreover, the petitioners further argued that the contract of examination conduct of the exam was given to a ‘blacklisted firm’ by ‘corrupt’ officials. The university officials denied the allegations and stated that the tendering process was done as per the legal norms. According to TOI, the aspirants in a writ petition mentioned about several irregularities in the entrance exam. For instance; they pointed out that to sit in the exam, the law required the registration of the candidates to be authenticated at the exam centres through digital photos and biometric prints. It so happened but surprisingly after the exam. One of the appeals was quoted in the same report as saying, “In reality, a lot of the centres were found to be conducting these security procedures after the examination.” Delhi University Installed Network Jammers in LLB Entrance Exam Centres to Avoid Cheating Menace. 

Such cases of irresponsibility have created an uproar among the students especially the postponement of the response sheets for which they paid Rs. 500. Another said, “Of the 22 candidates who applied for them, only five responses sheets were provided. But these sheets were faulty as a couple of answers were wrong. The University then provided Optical Character Recognition documents which have details of all the answers they selected in the exam. Again, the alleged ‘blacklisted firm’ was found to be involved in malpractices in a number of exams such as Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The students have further demanded the university to investigate the software which was used for the exam and re-conduct the examination after modifying all the mismanagements, thereby cancelling the earlier results. The examination department of Delhi University did not comment on the issue, only said the matter was ‘sub judice.’
