The Medical Council of India (MCI) has made a significant announcement for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET-PG) aspirants. In a major improvement, the Health Ministry in consultation with the Board of Governors, MCI has decided to reduce the qualifying percentile for NEET PG by 6 percentile for the year 2019-20. Now candidates with 44 per cent will be eligible for admission to Post Graduate courses in reputed medical universities. NEET PG Percentile Reduced by 6%

According to MCI, from the upcoming academic year 2019-20, general category candidates with a minimum of marks at 44 percentile, persons with disabilities category with a minimum of marks at 39 percentile and SC/ST OBC category candidates at 34 percentile will become eligible for admission to Post Graduate courses. While announcing the same, MCI directed all the States/Union Territories to make necessary arrangements for allowing students as per revised qualifying marks in any further rounds of counselling this year.

In early April, MCI released NEET PG/ Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) 2019 seat allotment matrix for the second round of counselling at different affiliated institutions all over the country. The seat allotment letter for the first round of NEET PF and MDS counselling was released on March 28. All NEET PG candidates, who have not been allotted a seat in round one or round two, should wait for the next one, which is slated to be conducted soon.

NEET PG is a mandatory entrance examination for students seeking admission in PG medical courses. Even foreign nationals will have to surpass the entrance exam, to study PG medical courses in India. No other entrance exams, either at state or institution level, is valid for entry to MD/ MS/ PG Diploma courses.
