Mumbai, November 14: Several passengers suffered and were stranded at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok for more than 12 hours after Air India flight AI 331 bound for Mumbai was cancelled on Sunday. According to an Indian Express report, the airline cancelled the flight as it could not arrange a crew to operate it. Many of the passengers had functions to attend and other important events lined up on Monday, and attending it was not possible. A person quoted in the report said, "We were stuck at Bangkok airport since 5 pm on Sunday for the flight originally set for departure at 8 pm. We were then told that the flight would depart at 11 pm, which was further pushed to around 3 am. Most of us ate from the food outlets at the airport as the airline could not even arrange that for us," who couldn't make it to an office on Tuesday.

The flight had more than 280 passengers on board, and they plan to write to the CMD of the airline to express their disappointment, anger over the delay.

The employees of the Air India Air Transport Services Ltd (AIATSL) went on strike at the Mumbai airport a week back, demanding payment of Diwali bonus and reinstatement of three of their colleagues whose contracts were not renewed by the company. The strike has been called off and the employees whose contracts were not renewed have not been taken back.
