The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has commenced the process of crediting interest for the 2025-26 financial year, according to Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Subscribers can expect the interest payment - ratified at an annual rate of 8.25 per cent - to be reflected in their passbooks by July 15. This year’s interest distribution covers approximately 34 crore member accounts, with an estimated total payout exceeding INR 1.44 lakh crore.

The credit process is being facilitated by the EPFO’s new centralised IT-enabled services (CITES) project, which has migrated member records into a unified database to ensure more efficient and transparent service delivery. EPFO Interest Update: 8.25% Annual Interest To Be Credited by July 15.

Important Context for Subscribers

While interest is calculated monthly based on the running balance, it is officially credited to the passbook on an annual basis. EPFO Portal Revamp: 10 Changes in PF Claims, Withdrawals and Transfers Every Member Should Know.

If your passbook does not reflect the interest credit after July 15, officials suggest waiting a few days, as the processing is conducted in stages. However, if a significant delay occurs, members are encouraged to check their contribution status or file a grievance through the official EPFO portal (epfigms.gov.in) to ensure their employer has filed the necessary Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR).
