Mumbai, May 8: Time and again, the Indian Railways has found itself in the news for all the wrong reasons. This time the authority is in the news for its train pantry staff, who used the handicap compartment of Garib-Rath Express toilet for storing food products. The video is shot by a disabled passenger named Arshad who said that he had to face inconvenience as the toilet meant for differently-abled passengers was used as a train canteen.

While the video does show that the toilet was used to store drinking water bottles, Frooti and other cold beverages, the authenticity of the incident is yet to be ascertained by railway officials.

The video is also shared by a Twitter user who states in his post that the incident occurred on April 26th in the Garib Rath train, plying between Bandra and Nizamuddin. Arshad said  that being diabetic, he was forced to use the loo frequently. But since the beverage bottles were stored in the toilet, he faced a lot of inconvenience. He was, therefore, forced to capture the video as proof.

Earlier, a similar video showing water being used from train toilet to prepare tea and coffee went viral on the social media. It showed a vendor coming out of a train toilet with tea and coffee cans. Taking cognisance of the video, the railway authorities slapped a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on the railway contractor after an investigation.

The previous incident said to have been recorded in Hyderabad Charminar Express train at Secunderabad railway station in December last year. However, according to a report by ANI, one of the vendors who was employed by contractor P. Sivaprasad  revealed to the railway authorities that they were only transferring the leftover beverage in the toilet to sell it at their respective platform stalls.
