The Government of India has opened nominations for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2026, one of the country's highest civilian honours for children. The award recognises exceptional achievements by children in areas such as bravery, innovation, sports, social service, art and culture, environment and science and technology. Eligible candidates can submit their nominations online through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal till July 31, 2026.

What Is Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar?

Presented annually by the President of India, the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar honours children who have made remarkable contributions to society through their talent, courage, leadership and dedication. Nominations can be submitted by individuals, institutions, organisations or through self-nomination. President Droupadi Murmu Confers Padma Awards 2026; Alka Yagnik, Rohit Sharma, Mammootty Among 65 Eminent Personalities Honoured.

The award is presented in the following six categories:

  • Bravery
  • Social Service
  • Environment
  • Sports
  • Art and Culture
  • Science and Technology

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for PMRBP 2026, applicants must:

  • Be an Indian citizen residing in India.
  • Be between 5 and 18 years of age as on July 31, 2026.
  • Have made the achievement or contribution within the last two years before the nomination deadline.
  • Not have received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar previously in any category.

How To Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. Apart from self-nominations, schools, educational institutions, organisations, district administrations, Union Ministries, State Governments, Members of Parliament, Governors, Chief Ministers and other authorised bodies can also recommend candidates.

Award Ceremony and Benefits

The award ceremony will be held in New Delhi on December 26, observed as Veer Bal Diwas. Awardees will receive a medal, certificate and citation from the President of India in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

Around 25 children are honoured every year across various categories. Since the award was introduced in its present format in 2019, more than 200 children from across India have been recognised for their inspiring contributions.
