Mumbai, Jan 20: The Tata Mumbai Marathon, one of the most prized racing events in India, will be held tomorrow, January 21, 2018. The marathon, previously known as Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, witnesses the participation of hundreds of athletes from the nation and abroad. Here are some frequently asked questions.

Eligibility: Anyone above the age of 18 can enroll themselves and participate in the race. There are separate categories for women, men, specially challenged people and senior citizens.

Entry Fee: The participants would need to pay Rs 2,000 for registration, if they are Indian nationals. For overseas participants, the entry fee is pegged at US $50.

Events: A total of 6 categories of races will be held, which would include 42.195-km full marathon for men and women's category. The maximum time-limit is capped at 7 hours. The half-marathon race will be 21.097-km long, with the maximum time-limit capped at 3 hours for women and 2 hours 45 minutes for men. Apart from the above, a 6-km dream run for sprinters, a 4.3-km race for senior citizens and a 2.4-km event for specially challenged participants will also be conducted.

A new race - Timed 10K - has been added this year, where the participants will have to pay an additional amount for charity apart from their registration fees. The minimum amount of charity which would make one eligible for the 10-km long race is Rs 9,000.

Route & Traffic Guidelines: The Mumbai Police has provided information to the participants and general commuters about the route for the marathon to be held on Sunday, along with the traffic diversion.

Prize & Past Winners: The maximum winning amount for full-marathon men and women category is $4,05,000. In the marathon last year, Kenya's Valentine Kipketer won in the female category by covering the 42-km distance in 2:24:33. In men's category, another Kenyan athlete Gideon Kipketer won and set a record by completing the race in 2:08:35.
