Lucknow, February 21: With an aim to showcase investment opportunities and potential in the various sectors of Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit has been organised in Lucknow city on 21st - 22nd February 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 2-day Investors Summit that is believed to bring in investment and jobs creation in the state. The Summit has attracted the participation of leading corporate houses from the country and abroad.

The Prime Minister took to Twitter to praise the Chief Minister's leadership in UP. He said, "the state's progress journey has got a strong impetus". President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the valedictory function on Thursday. The city has been decked up for the occasion and security has been beefed. To give a grand welcome the delegates, wall paintings and lighting has been set up around the main venue in Gomti Nagar’s Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.

Reliance Jio to invest Rs 10,000-cr in 3 years, announces Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani while addressing the delegates at the Investors summit in Lucknow lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative and said that digitalisation will help India to race ahead. Ambani said Reliance Jio will invest Rs 10,000-cr in 3 years.

He said Reliance Jio will make 2 crore JioPhones available in UP in next two months and that Jio will be present in every single village in UP by the end of 2018. “We have already created employment opportunities in the state and wish to carry it forward. River Ganga is essential for us and the Namami Ganga project is gaining momentum. We would like to take part in the initiative”, he said.

Ambani said Reliance will execute whatever part of the Clean India Ganga mission is assigned to group. Recalling the meeting with Yogi Aditynath in Mumbai, Ambani said that the state is not only rising but racing ahead. "PM Modi wants to make Uttar Pradesh Uttam Pradesh. We will together fulfill PM Modi's dream of making Uttar Pradesh a 'Uttam Pradesh," he said.

Kumar Mangalam Birla announces to invest Rs 25,000 crore in multiple businesses in UP

Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of Birla Group while addressing the summit said that Uttar Pradesh has been one of Birla's favourite investment destinations. He said the company plans to invest 25,000 crore in the state in coming years. He said there are two key factors will drive the growth of UP; one is the investment-friendly government and the other is the availability of the human resources.

Birla said UP is a land of opportunities and now plans to invest 25,000 crore in the state in the next few years. “We will continue to participate in the growth of the state and will be partners in developing the vision of New India”, Kumar Mangalam said.

Anand Mahindra announces to set up electric vehicle plant in Uttar Pradesh

While addressing the summit, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra announced to invest Rs 200 cr in Varanasi in infrastructure projects and made an announcement to set up electric vehicle plant in Uttar Pradesh.

Anand Mahindra said that he has been hearing the stories of business and Uttar Pradesh from his mother and felt like being home. “UP has the largest population, strong rail network. The size of the state makes it a country itself. This is why UP should compete with other countries, not states”, he said.   He further added saying, “Uttar Pradesh should be compared to other countries. UP's targets should not be compared to the targets of other states, instead to other countries”.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the government is organising this for the betterment of the public and UP will get an opportunity to change its image through this event. Adityanath said, “Through this investor summit, we intend to provide a platform for the best minds and expertise round the world to collaborate with us in this endeavour”. “I assure all stakeholders complete support in facilitating and grounding investments in Uttar Pradesh. On this note, I welcome you to Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit 2018”, he added.

The two-day event will bring together heads of states and governments, ministers, leaders from the corporate world, senior policy makers, heads of international institutions and academia from around the world to further the cause of economic development in the state and promote cooperation.   Over 5000 people including key business leaders, ministers and policy makers are in Lucknow to participate in the Summit.

A total of 30 sessions have been planned for the two-day summit, which will be attended by central ministers Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan. Business leaders from Mauritius, Japan, The Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Thailand and Slovakia are also in Lucknow to participate in Yogi Adityanath's flagship event. Top Business leaders of India including Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani, Subhash Chandra, N Chandrashekharan, Anand Mahindra, Kumar Mangalam Birla and Shobana Kamineni are scheduled to speak during various sessions.
