Incident Details and Robbery
The incident occurred around 5:30 PM as bank officers and employees were returning to the branch after withdrawing cash from the ATM, reports The Times of India. An unidentified individual approached them from behind, threw chilli powder into their faces, seized the cash bag, and attempted to flee. Quick Pursuit and Arrest
Bank employees immediately raised an alarm and gave chase. Beat marshals on routine patrol and personnel from the Detection of Crime (DB) team spotted the commotion, pursued the suspect, and apprehended him at the scene along with the entire looted cash. The accused was identified as Suraj Borkar, a resident of Tatoli in Bhivapur tehsil of Nagpur rural.
Police Action Against the Accused
The operation leading to the arrest was executed by a team comprising constables Shailesh Belekar, Rajendra Mohad, Tappulal Chute, and Sharadsingh Tembhre. Senior Police Inspector Ramesh N. Khune of the Sakkardara police station formally reported the details of the case, and further investigation is underway.
