New Delhi, Aug 15: The Congress on Wednesday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after tricolour almost fell on the ground during a flag-hoisting ceremoney attended by Amit Shah to celebrate the country's 72nd Independence Day. The national flag came down from the pole when Amit Shah tried to hosited it. The video of the incident was going viral on social media.

In the video, Amit Shah is seen hoisting tricolour. When Shah unfurls the national flag, it falls instead of going up. Shah, however, again pulls the rope, and this time he succeds in hoisting tricolour properly. Soon after the incident, the Congress posted the video on Twitter, slamming the BJP chief for 'disrespecting the national flag'.

"Those who can't handle the country's flag, how can they run the country?" tweeted the Congress. "People who give certificate of nationalism to others don't even know the traditions around the national anthem," it added while sharing the video. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also took a dig at Shah and the BJP follwoing the incident.

"No matter how powerful you are, everyone bows before the nature. Tricolour refused to get hoisted by Amit Shah. By this, Bharat Mata conveyed she is sad," Kejriwal tweeted.
