Although DA is calculated using the CPI-IW and not the general Consumer Price Index, persistent inflation has strengthened expectations of another DA hike for central government employees.

The Centre last revised the Dearness Allowance in April 2026, approving a 2% increase with retrospective effect from January 1, 2026.

Following the revision, DA for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners increased from 58% to 60% of basic pay.
