Mumbai, March 27: Shiv Sena youth wing leader Aditya Thackeray expressed concern over the unexpected rise in temperature in Mumbai. He appealed to all political parties to work towards the conservation of the environment. On March 26, the day when Mumbai temperature crosses 40-degree mark, he tweeted, “The extreme weather that we’ve seen in our monsoon, winter and now the summer isn’t only for areas far off from us. It’s in our cities and villages too. Climate change is here. I hope every leader, every political party speaks about it and works on it as govt policy.”

In another tweet, Thackeray highlighted the urgent need to take measures to stop global warming. He said, “Climate change and environment goes beyond any ideology. It is now becoming an urgent matter of lifestyle and I hope governments, leaderships & parties, unanimously begin to tackle it without protecting any vested interests. On March 26, the temperature of Mumbai touched the 40-degree mark. The Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 degrees, which is seven degrees above normal. The heat condition is expected to continue for the next three to four days. According to Skymet Weather, apart from Mumbai, several other regions including Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra will also remain hot as the actual temperatures will remain above normal by one to two degrees.
