Lucknow, December 28: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker has asked for a house for Lord Ram under a government scheme. According to a tweet by ANI, Hari Narayan Rajbhar, a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh's Ghosi has written to Ayodhya District Magistrate (DM) seeking a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Lord Ram. The MP claimed that he (Lord Ram) needs a house as 'he has been living in a tent.’ Ram Mandir Row: Ayodhya Tense as VHP, Shiv Sena Mobilise Cadre For Massive Show of Strength on Sunday.

The MP further added saying that Lord Ram had to live in extreme weather conditions like harsh winter, severe summer heat and heavy rainfall, without a roof over his head. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the MP in a letter to district officials stated that the Union government is duty-bound to provide shelter to the homeless, so the district officials must provide a house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Lord Ram. Bring Ordinance For Ram Mandir if it is Good For Country, Says Muslim Litigant in Ayodhya Case.

The PMAY (U) is an initiative by the government to provide housing for all by 2022. The scheme, which is being implemented from June, 2015, provides central assistance to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and other implementing agencies through States/UTs for in-situ Rehabilitation of existing slum dwellers using land as a resource with private participation; Credit Linked Subsidy.

The Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute is a centuries-old point of a tiff between Hindus and Muslims. As per details, the mosque was demolished by Hindu karsevaks on 6th December 1992 in Ayodhya, after which the country witnessed massive riots in which over 2,000 people were killed.
