Alwar, May 18: Rajasthan police on Saturday filed a chargesheet against all six accused in connection with the Alwar gangrape case. The five accused had allegedly gang-raped a woman when she was going with her husband on a two-wheeler on Thanagaji-Alwar road. The incident took place on April 26 but the case was registered days later. "The chargesheet was filed on Saturday against the accused," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chiranjee Lal said. An FIR (First Information Report) was registered in the case on May 2. The accused are identified as Ashok Gurjar, Inderraj Gujar, Mahesh Gujar and Hansraj Gurjar. Mahesh, who had shot the video and circulated it, was held under the Information Technology Act. The other five accused were booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act.

Alwar gangrape case had triggered a huge protest after the victim's husband alleged that there was a delay in registering the case as the police officials had asked them to wait till the elections are over. The BJP had also accused Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government of suppressing the case.

On Thursday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had met the victim and her family in Alwar's Thanagji and assured them that justice will be provided to them, Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy CM Sachin pilot and party's general secretary Avinash Pandey.
