Amritsar, November 18: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of three people killed in the blast at Nirankari Bhawan in Rajasansi village of Amritsar district on Sunday. He has also directed the civic hospital to provide free treatment to those injured in the attack.

"My heart goes out to victims of the Amritsar bomb blast & their families. My govt will give Rs 5 lakh to kin of each of the dead and free treatment to injured. The Punjab CM also chaired a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation in the state. Singh directed the Home Secretary, DGP, DG (Law and Order) and DG Intelligence to rush to Rajasansi in Amritsar to supervise investigations, an official spokesman said.

The congregation targeted by bike-borne attackers was being attended by nearly 250 people. While three sustained fatal injuries, 15-20 are being currently treated. The police could not determine yet if the attackers were Islamist terrorists or militants linked to the Khalistan movement.

Following the fatal blast, Home Minister Rajnath Singh dialled Singh to inquire into the incident. "Spoke to the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh ji who has apprised me of the situation in the wake of grenade attack in Amritsar. Strongest possible action will be taken against the perpetrators of this crime," he said.
