The deceased have been identified as Lovepreet Singh and Gurjit Kaur. According to reports, the incident took place on June 13 when Lovepreet visited his in-laws' residence to convince his wife, Sandeep Kaur, to return home after she had reportedly left following a domestic dispute. During the visit, Lovepreet's brother-in-law, identified as Sajan Singh, allegedly poured an inflammable substance on him and set him ablaze. Gurjit Kaur, who is Sajan Singh's sister-in-law, rushed to save Lovepreet but was also caught in the flames. Both victims later succumbed to their burn injuries while undergoing treatment. Sajan Singh also sustained burn injuries during the incident and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The CCTV footage shows a man allegedly setting another man on fire, after which the victim is seen running in a desperate attempt to extinguish the flames. A woman, believed to be Gurjit Kaur, is also seen engulfed in the fire while trying to intervene. Another person is later seen attempting to help the victims as the flames spread.
Police have registered a case against Sajan Singh in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the alleged attack.
