Mumbai, December 17: There has been widespread agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act across the nation, with protests turning violent in several parts of the country. According to an Indian Express report, 94-year-old freedom fighter G G Parikh will lead a large-scale protest against the CAA on December 19 at Girgaum Chowpatty.

Parikh will lead the Girgaum protest along with activist Teesta Setalvad, author Dolphy D’Souza, former IAS Kannan Gopinathan, IPS Abdur Rahman and other prominent personalities. Anti-CAA Protests Reach Mumbai; Students Take to Streets Against Citizen Amendment Act and NRC.

Many organisations,  including students and political parties, will take part in the rally. On Monday, students in large numbers hit the streets to express solidarity with the students of the Jamia Millia Islamia and AMU protesting against the CAA.

Several students from the Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) and the University of Mumbai held protests to denounce the BJP-led government over the CAA and also the proposed National Register of Citizen (NRC).
