The first incident occurred near the old Roadways bus stand in the Baheri area. Acting on complaints from local outfits regarding the sale of chicken biryani along the Kanwar route, police and civic municipal teams inspected the spot. Police detained the shopkeeper, identified as Salman, along with another individual named Raees. Following the detention, civic officials deployed a bulldozer to remove the shop's tin shed and counter, which municipal authorities stated were encroaching on public land and built illegally over a drain.
According to Baheri Circle Officer Arun Kumar Singh, police later raided another eatery near the local bakery area and detained two additional persons for similar violations. Heightened Surveillance Across Pilgrimage Corridors
In response to the violations, the police administration has scaled up patrolling and monitoring along the Bareilly-Baheri highway and connecting routes. Special task teams are routinely inspecting food outlets to enforce compliance with regional guidelines throughout the pilgrimage season.
Officials warned that strict legal measures, including FIRs and anti-encroachment actions, will continue to be enforced against vendors operating unauthorized stalls or violating route-specific restrictions.
