A 13-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped and killed in Bengaluru in a case linked to a suspected ransom plan, with police arresting one accused and continuing the search for another. The victim, identified as Prajwal, was found dead inside the boot of a car after the vehicle was involved in a series of accidents near Yelahanka.

According to police, the accused, identified as Bhaskar Reddy, was the boy’s neighbour in Vinayaka Nagar. Investigators allege that Reddy lured Prajwal into his car on the pretext of getting firecrackers.
Police suspect the boy was kidnapped with the intention of demanding money from his parents. Reports said the accused also allegedly recorded a video involving the boy as part of the ransom plan. The situation took a fatal turn when Prajwal allegedly resisted and attempted to escape. Police said Reddy struck the boy on the head with a cement brick, resulting in his death. He then allegedly placed the body in the boot of the car and set out towards Andhra Pradesh. The crime came to light after the car was involved in multiple collisions on the Ballari Road service road near Yelahanka. The accidents drew the attention of motorists, who stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver. Police subsequently inspected the car and discovered the boy’s body in the boot. Police arrested Reddy and are questioning him to establish the sequence of events and the motive behind the alleged kidnapping and murder. Investigators are also searching for the second accused who is suspected to have been involved in the crime. The case has been registered at Chikkajala police station, and further investigation is underway to establish the role of all those allegedly involved.
