The couple, originally from Bihar, lived in Bengaluru with their two children and were reportedly involved in frequent quarrels.
According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday while the couple's children were playing outside the house. Gupta and Gunja allegedly got into an argument, following which he strangled his wife. Police said the accused allegedly poured hot oil over the woman's body after the killing and attempted to peel her skin. After the incident, Gupta allegedly fled from the house. Police suspected his involvement after he escaped from the scene and subsequently traced and detained him. During questioning, Gupta reportedly confessed to the crime, according to police. Police also said the accused allegedly attempted to die by suicide after the incident.
