Patna, August 30: The Bihar government on Friday banned 12 pan masala brands containing magnesium carbonate. Nitish Kumar-led government imposed ban on manufacture, storage, distribution, transportation or sale of these products in the state for one year. The samples were collected from different districts of the state. The ban has been imposed keeping in view public health. Magnesium Carbonate causes heart-related diseases. It is an organic salt, which is also used as a matte white coating for projection screens. The Nitish Kumar government had already banned alcohol in the state in 2016. Person caught drinking in Bihar for the first time will be fined Rs 50,000.
