New Delhi, August 5: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah today met former Indian Cricket captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni in New Delhi as a part of the party’s Sampark for Samarthan initiative.  Union Minister Piyush Goyal also accompained the BJP president. The Modi government started the initiative on 29th May after completing four years.

As part of the mega public drive, 4,000 BJP functionaries will contact one lakh people, who are well known in their respective fields. The main aim of this initiative is to spread the word about the NDA government's programmes and policies launched since 2014.

Shah will himself meet 50 people as of the initiative. Launching the campaign, Shah had met former Army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag and former Lok Sabha secretary general Subhash Kashyap on May 29. On July 22, the BJP president met melody queen Lata Mangeshkar at her residence.

Shah had also met Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, industrialist Ratan Tata and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackrey on June 6, as part of the mega drive. He had also met cricket legend Kapil Dev, former chief justice of India R C Lahoti and yoga guru Ramdev.  Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had met Salman Khan on June 8. The initiative will run up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
