Mumbai, September 27: The Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and newly appointed MHADA chief Madhu Chavan has been booked on charges of allegedly raping and cheating a 57-year-old woman on the pretext of marriage. The complainant works in an educational institute in Chiplun. She accused Chavan of sexually exploiting her between 2002 and 2017 on the pretext of marriage. According to reports, the cops initially didn't register the case against Chavan. Madhu Chavan, while defending himself, said that this allegation is false and an attempt to defame him. Speaking to the media, Chavan said he was ready to face the inquiry, as he was innocent. "I have faith in the police and judiciary. I have already informed my party about the allegations," he added. Previously, a former BJP leader had also filed a rape case against him around five years ago at Kala Chowki police station.
