CGEGIS Overhaul Demands
Employee associations stress that the Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (CGEGIS) has failed to keep pace with inflation and family financial requirements, reports Livemint. Slabs have remained static for decades - such as Group C coverage pegged at INR 1.5 lakh, cited by the Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO).

8th Pay Commission Roadmap
Headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai (with part-time member Prof Pulak Ghosh and member-secretary Pankaj Jain), the 8th Pay Commission was constituted on November 3, 2025. The panel is targeting mid-2026 for its final report, with the next consultative stop scheduled in Bengaluru on October 7–8, 2026. No formal announcement on CGEGIS or salary revisions has been issued yet.
