Residents of Bundeli village in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district were left in a state of panic on Wednesday evening after a 58-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife and paraded through the locality carrying her severed head. The accused, identified as Salik Ram, was apprehended by the Balco Nagar police shortly after the gruesome incident.

According to police officials, the victim, Chait Kunwar, was killed following a heated domestic dispute. Investigations suggest the couple had been consuming alcohol together when an argument broke out. In a fit of rage, Salik Ram reportedly used a sharp-edged weapon to decapitate his wife. Witnesses stated that the accused then placed the head in a plastic bag and rode his motorcycle through the village, occasionally showing the remains to terrified bystanders. The Balco Nagar police arrived at the scene after being alerted by local residents. "The accused has been taken into custody, and the weapon used in the crime has been seized," a senior police officer confirmed.
