CJP Warns of Fresh Protest, Demands Withdrawal of FIRs Against Student Demonstrators (Video)

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday warned the Centre that it would resume its nationwide protest if criminal cases filed against student protesters in Bihar, West Bengal and other states are not withdrawn. The warning came during a press conference in New Delhi, where CJP leaders alleged that police action against demonstrators violated assurances previously given by the government.

CJP Alleges Government Breached Earlier Understanding

Addressing the media, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the organisation had suspended its agitation after receiving assurances from the Centre that no punitive action would be taken against protesters. He alleged that FIRs had since been registered against students and volunteers in several states, including Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, calling it a breach of the government's commitment. 'Saakshi' Evidence Vault Launched

The CJP also announced the launch of 'Saakshi', a digital evidence vault intended to collect and preserve videos, photographs and other material related to the student protests. According to the organisation, the platform is designed to document alleged instances of police action and assist in providing legal support to protesters facing criminal cases.

Independent Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal attended the press conference and expressed concern over the reported arrests and criminal cases against protesters. Arrests Follow Student-Led Agitation

The latest developments come after weeks of student-led protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET paper leak controversy. Demonstrations were held in several parts of the country, with police action reported in multiple states.

According to the CJP, protesters have been detained and FIRs lodged against participants in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and other locations. Authorities have not publicly accepted the organisation's allegation that the action violates any prior understanding with the Centre.

Examination Reforms Remain at Centre of Political Debate

The controversy has continued to dominate national politics and the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. While the Centre has introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 to strengthen measures against paper leaks and organised cheating, opposition parties and student groups have continued to raise concerns over the handling of protests and the treatment of demonstrators.
