A group of stray dogs intervened to protect a mentally ill woman from an alleged s*xual assault in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, during the early hours of Friday morning. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM near a railway overbridge in the NGGO Colony-Ashokapuram area, close to Thudiyalur.

According to the CCTV footage cited by police, the woman, who routinely stays in the area, was sitting by the roadside when an allegedly intoxicated youth approached her. Two stray dogs that regularly stayed near the woman began barking as the youth came closer. The woman allegedly told him to throw a stone to scare the animals away. The youth did so, forcing the dogs to move back briefly. However, they remained nearby and continued barking.
Dogs Intervene During Alleged Assault Attempt
The youth allegedly took advantage of the isolated location and attempted to s*xually assault the woman. When she screamed for help, one of the dogs reportedly lunged at him. The animals then barked aggressively and bit the youth, with one reportedly grabbing his legs and pulling him away from the woman. The youth abandoned the attempt and fled from the spot. Police Identify and Arrest Suspect
