Ranchi, September 3: In a bizarre incident, a doctor in a government hospital in Jharkhand is likely to be sacked after he prescribed condom to a 55-year-old woman for stomach pain. Reports inform that the incident took place in Ghatsila in July this year. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the woman, in her complaint, alleged that the doctor had prescribed ‘Condom Nirodh’ for abdominal pain on July 23 and then asked the patient to visit the pharmacy.  Delhi: Girl Alleges Doctor Of Mishandling Inside Operation Theater.

A doctor identified as Ghatsila sub-divisional hospital (GSDH) surgeon Dr Ashraf Badr was found guilty of the act. The report further informs that the dismissal order against the doctor came after a three-member probe committee confirmed the charges against him in its report. The doctor was on a one-year contract. Reports inform that the probe committee submitted its report on August 2 confirming the charges against Dr Badr.

East Singhbhum’s civil surgeon Dr Maheshwar Prasad was quoted in the HT report said that the order to dismiss accused Dr Ashraf Badr has come from the state health department. “We will put it in the meeting of the district health society as soon as the DC returns to the city”, he said.

The doctor, however, said he will challenge the decision of his dismissal in the high court and alleged that the probe is carried out to implicate him as part of a conspiracy. Badr went on to say that he had not written any such prescription and the registration slip put against me is fake. Police informed that this is not the first time that Badr has been dismissed from the service. Even earlier, he was dismissed on several charges of misconduct. The doctor was reinstated only after a written undertaking of not repeating the same mistake again.
