Jhansi, June 2: In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old woman died on Friday night due to suffocation in Uttar Pradesh Sampark Kranti because of overcrowding. The woman, identified as Sita, was travelling with her father and other siblings from Banda to Delhi. According to reports, on Friday night Sita was going to Hazrat Nizamuddin. The train was heavily overcrowded, but she managed to board the train. After getting in, her condition started to deteriorate. The train halted at Mahoba and Mauranipur stations but due to overcrowding, they couldn't get off the train.

Sita was rushed to the railway hospital where she was declared dead. The Government Railway Police (GRP) said that she was sick, adding that, she couldn't breathe and fainted due to overcrowding. Meanwhile, the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
