According to police, the accident took place near the Nangal Dewat traffic signal, where the road was reportedly slippery due to wet conditions. Preliminary investigation suggests that Yashvendra lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, causing the car to veer off the road and overturn into a drain. A police team from Vasant Kunj South Police Station rushed to the spot after receiving information about the crash and found the vehicle lying upside down inside the drain. Both Yashvendra and his female friend, who owned the car, were trapped inside and were immediately rescued before being shifted to a nearby hospital. Police said Yashvendra sustained critical injuries and succumbed during treatment. His friend suffered injuries in the accident and is currently undergoing medical treatment. Her condition has not been disclosed.
Investigators said the two were students at the same educational institution in the US and had become friends while studying there. They were reportedly travelling towards the woman's residence in Vasant Kunj when the accident occurred.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining all aspects of the crash, including the road conditions and the sequence of events that led to the fatal accident.
